Thank you for joining us in our journey to help create a strong patient voice and improve the healthcare system we all depend on. Patient Critical Co-op is all about you, and all for…you! We want to hear more about what you think, and how you would like to be involved.
We created a Co-op because all other organizational models prioritize the people at the top to make decisions and hand them down. We believe patients need to make their own decisions, and hand them around!
Current member-patient decisions include continuing to produce podcasts, infographics and guides. Digital health literacy and healthcare disparities between the provinces are members’ chief concerns.
Now it’s your turn to fill in the blanks:
• what do you want us to talk about on the podcast?
• who do you want to invite to appear on the podcast?
• what topics do you want to read/view infographics about?
• what issues aren’t on our radar yet, but should be?
• how else can we communicate with you? group meetings? chats?
• how can we get the word out to new members?
We also want to know what YOU think is working well, and what’s not, in our communication and our advocacy efforts?
In our first six months we created your co-op, opened for business and our members have voted. With our by-laws and the directors approved, I am proud to continue as Managing Director…but the founding directors and first members can’t run a national co-op on our own. We need more members to take on an active role.
In the first three months of 2018 your co-op will continue a word of mouth campaign to increase membership, and continue to poll all members about what matters most to them.
We will also be recruiting members to sit on working groups. Currently planned working groups are:
• digital health literacy
• provincial disparity awareness
• adding/expanding online curated resources
After the Annual General Meeting on Nov. 24th, some of you stayed behind to discuss options for us to pursue in the coming year. Others emailed or sent private messages. We welcome those contributions, and we need more of it!
Come work with your co-op. We offer a unique opportunity to take part in national healthcare advocacy and education. The more members contribute, the more we can accomplish for all patients in Canada.
Not the right time for you to participate? No problem! Co-ops are designed to share the load. We want to hear from you, about whatever matters to you.
Let us know if there are other ways you would like to be involved. Feedback is always welcome, and always answered.
Please get in touch, and please spread the word about Patient Critical Co-op to your friends and peers.
