31 new medicines received market approval in 2016, fewer than the average annual rate of 35 from 2009 to 2014; in contrast, 2017 was a very active year, with 51 new medicines approved. Read the new Meds Entry Watch report here: https://t.co/vrVzIB6cJK #cdnhealth

Hey researchers. When you receive support letters from patients or other knowledge users, always give an update on the status of your project, and provide opportunities for engagement. Research impact is all about building relationships and communication. https://t.co/xVZ1wbP1AV

Generics didn't spike in Canada because pharma made a deal to cut prices 25% for a promise to cut open tendering fo 5 yrs.

Tendering would force co's to compete on price & ensure supply @SteveUBC argues.

Let's see what happens in 3.5 years with generics. https://t.co/60vcANjpBt

Binding arbitration removes spending cap on @ontariosdoctors.

At same time it requires them to eliminate $460 Million in inappropriate billing.

How will this arbitration affect 8 specialties @specialistsON who left OMA?

Thx @cathyfaulds @theresaboyle

Interesting thought experiment on creating a truly patient-centric future health record & the obstacles to getting one. Hat tip to @ZaynaKhayat #hcldr #codesign #patientdata

I'm often asked 'who watches out for patients?' Doubly so about #digitalhealth.

You might be surprised at the answer.

This is a thread about #digitalhealth innovation-funded Federally & steered 'at arm's length' to the tune of $300 Million dollars over 5 years through @infoway.

@seastarbatita I was once a patient rep on a health planning conference committee. I was told: only patients with graduate degrees would be able to review abstracts. When I questioned this, I was rebuffed. Do people with grad degrees have a lock on expertise? I detect academic elitism at play.

"when (doctors) take on more patients, they will get the same salary, but we just want to give more services to people who are waiting.”...McCann says she believes this could encourage family physicians to take on more patients & delegate services to other members of their team."
